Day 3 — The First Check-In
Day 3 is the sweet spot for the first follow-up. Day 1 feels pushy and like you're desperate for the work. Day 5+ feels forgotten — the customer has already mentally moved on or booked someone else.
Day 3 says: 'I'm organized, I'm following up, but I'm not chasing.' That's the energy you want.
Day 3 follow-up
Hey [name], just wanted to make sure my quote for [job] landed in your inbox — sometimes these emails end up in spam. No pressure either way, just let me know if you have any questions or want me to walk you through any part of it.
Why it works
- The 'spam folder' framing gives them an out — they're not being lazy, the email just got lost.
- 'No pressure either way' lowers the temperature.
- Offering to walk them through it positions you as helpful, not hungry.
Send by text if you have their number. Text response rates beat email 4:1 for local services.
