Lesson 4 of 86 min read
Week 1: Foundational Positioning (Days 1–7)
Goal: Make AI able to pattern-match you to a specific search.
1. Niche down your messaging
Pick the one search you want to win. For a lawn care company in Longmont, that might be "weekly lawn maintenance in Longmont." For an HVAC company, "emergency AC repair in [city]." For a roofer, "residential roof replacement in [city]." Specificity wins.
2. Rewrite your homepage headline
Use the exact keywords from the search you're chasing.
- Before: "Dave's Lawn Maintenance & Landscaping — Quality Service Since 1999"
- After: "Weekly Lawn Maintenance in Longmont — Reliable, Clean, Consistent"
3. Add service pages with the search terms in the title
- Weekly Lawn Mowing Longmont
- Lawn Maintenance Plans Longmont
- For HVAC: Emergency AC Repair Longmont, Furnace Tune-Ups Longmont. Same pattern.
4. Update your homepage sections
- Our Maintenance Plans (or Our Services)
- Why Homeowners Choose Us
- Serving Longmont Neighborhoods (with specific neighborhood names listed)
5. Post 5–10 before/after photos
Add them to your website and Google Business Profile this week. Real photos. Real jobs.
By the end of Week 1, your business should read like a specialist when an AI scrapes your site.
