Your Website on Mobile: Fix It Before It Costs You
Lesson 6 of 65 min read

Module Action Plan & Checklist

Here's your complete action plan for this module. Work through these steps in order — the whole thing can be done in an afternoon.

Step 1 — Run Your Tests (15 minutes)

  1. Go to search.google.com/test/mobile-friendly and test your homepage, services page, and contact page. Screenshot the results for each.
  2. Go to pagespeed.web.dev and run a mobile speed test on the same pages. Note your scores.
  3. Pull up your site on your phone (cellular, not WiFi) and complete the 30-second phone test from Lesson 3.

Step 2 — Generate Your Fix List (10 minutes)

  1. Open ChatGPT.
  2. Paste in the Core Prompt from Lesson 5 with your business type, city, platform, and the issues you found.
  3. Save the output. This is your fix plan.

Step 3 — Do the Quick Wins Yourself (1–2 hours)

  1. Compress every image on your site through TinyPNG.com.
  2. Make your phone number tap-to-call.
  3. Bump body font size to 16px on mobile.
  4. Disable any pop-ups that aren't essential.

Step 4 — Hand Off the Rest (15 minutes)

  1. Use the Developer Brief prompt from Lesson 5 to generate a clean, professional brief.
  2. Send it to your web developer with your before/after test screenshots as context.

Step 5 — Verify & Document (15 minutes)

  1. After fixes are made, re-run PageSpeed Insights and the Mobile-Friendly Test.
  2. Screenshot your new scores.
  3. Do the phone test again — does everything feel better?
  4. Save your before/after documentation.
