Google Posts & GBP — Your Most Important Channel

Most owners have heard about Facebook and Instagram. Very few realize that posting before & after content directly to your Google Business Profile is more valuable for your business than both of those platforms combined.

Why Google Is the #1 Channel for This Content

  • Facebook/Instagram are seen by followers and algorithm-selected audiences. Google posts are seen by people actively searching for your service.
  • Organic reach is declining on social platforms. Google shows your posts directly in search results.
  • Social engagement = likes and comments. Google engagement = calls, direction requests, and website clicks.
  • Social content competes with friends, news, and ads. Google content is shown to people already in buying mode.
  • Social algorithms may not show your posts to a local audience. Google actively prioritizes local-relevant content.
  • Social posts have no direct ranking impact. Fresh GBP posts and photos are a local SEO ranking signal.

How to Post a Before & After to Google Business Profile

  1. Open your Google Business Profile — on desktop, search your business name and use the "Edit profile" sidebar. On mobile, the Google Business Profile app is fastest.
  2. Add the photos — go to Photos > Add photos. Upload your before photo first, then the after. In the optional caption: "Electrical panel replacement in [City] — before and after."
  3. Create a Google Post — go to Posts > Create Post. Choose "What's new." Add your photos plus a caption from Lesson 4. Add a button — "Call now" or "Learn more" — pointing to your booking page.
  4. Set a weekly reminder — one Google Post per week is all it takes to see results. Set a recurring phone reminder: every Friday at 4pm, "Post this week's job to Google."

Google rewards consistency more than volume. One post per week, every week, beats five posts in one week then silence for a month. Aim for 1 post and 2–4 new photos per week — that's a 15-minute commitment.
